چکیده

The topic of interference cancellation in a coded Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) system has been the focus of much recent research. Earlier works have studied methods for jointly decoding all the users resulting in most having an exponential complexity for the corresponding receiver. In this report, a number of di erent iterative decoding methods are proposed for the multi-user interference cancellation in a CDMA system where Turbo Codes are utilized for forward error correction. In the proposed decoding schemes, the individual users are decoded separately with the operation of iterative interference cancellation being mixed with the iterative decoding of Turbo Codes. These iterative decoders result in only a marginal increase in the overall complexity as compared to a conventional single user receiver utilizing Turbo Codes for forward error correction. Numerical performance results are presented showing that in the cases of practical interest for CDMA applications, the multiple access interference can be essentially removed at a reasonable level of complexity. These iterative decoders achieve a similar to better performance with a reduction in complexity as compared to similar previously known research work. i

An Iterative Multiuser Detector for DS-CDMA

We propose an iterative multiuser detector for Turbo coded Direct Sequence CDMA (DS-CDMA) systems. The receiver is derived from the Maximum a-Posteriori (MAP) estimation of the single user’s transmitted data, conditioned on information about the estimate of the Multiple Access Interference (MAI) and the received signal from the channel. The complexity of the proposed receiver increases linearly...

Iterative multiuser detection for CDMA with FEC: near-single-user performance

This paper introduces an iterative multiuser receiver for direct sequence code-division multiple access (DS-CDMA) with forward error control (FEC) coding. The receiver is derived from the maximum a posteriori (MAP) criterion for the joint received signal, but uses only single-user decoders. Iterations of the system are used to improve performance, with dramatic effects. Single-user turbo code d...

On DS-CDMA uplink channel parameter estimation for bit-interleaved-coded modulation

This contribution deals with the performance of joint multi-user turbo detection and channel parameter estimation in a bit interleaved coded modulation scheme for asynchronous Direct-Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (DS-CDMA) transmission over frequency selective, slowly fading channels. Accurate estimation of the channel parameters is critical, as it has great impact on the performance o...

Iterative (turbo) soft interference cancellation and decoding for coded CDMA

The presence of both multiple-access interference (MAI) and intersymbol interference (ISI) constitutes a major impediment to reliable communications in multipath code-division multiple-access (CDMA) channels. In this paper, an iterative receiver structure is proposed for decoding multiuser information data in a convolutionally coded asynchronous multipath DS-CDMA system. The receiver performs t...
